This is never a popular idea, but it became necessary to increase dues to $20 effective May 1997.
The club got started with a handful of members two years ago, and the $12 dues seemed adequate at the time. Since then, we have grown to over 30 members. The costs of producing and mailing the newsletter (and the projected postal rate increase) represent most of our operating expenses. We also cover the costs of sending and entering members' beers in the AHA Club-Only Competitions.
The Treasurer was seeing red (ink, that is) so it became necessary to approach the members on bended knee with
hat in hand. The members overwhelmingly voted to increase our membership fees to give us room to operate. Thanks!
